Hey adventure buddies! ๐ Let's talk about one of my favorite ways to get into fun trouble - saying YES first and figuring out the details later.
*Before we dive in, I want to acknowledge something important: I'm incredibly privileged to be able to take these kinds of leaps. As an able-bodied cis white woman who's small/medium fat, I navigate the world with advantages that aren't available to everyone. But I also know that sometimes what holds us back isn't external barriers - it's that sneaky voice of self-doubt. And to that voice, I say: move aside, we've got adventures to chase!
When Chaos Leads to Growth
Some of my wildest stories started with me having absolutely NO clue what I was doing. I'm still debating which was more bonkers - deciding to climb Kilimanjaro or launching Thicket. Both started with a "fuck it, letโs do it!" and ended up changing my life! ๐๏ธ
My construction background taught me that I can do hard things. We'd often get these project requests that sounded absolutely bananas, but we always found a way to make it work. That same mindset has served me pretty well in life!
Some of My "Figure It Out Later" Greatest Hits:
- Trekking the Salkantay Trail to Machu Picchu
- Climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro (Photo Above)
- Starting Thicket Adventure with my bestie (best chaos ever)
- Surfing in Costa Rica with Nakoa Adventure
Putting In The Work
There's a world of difference between being spontaneous and being reckless. Saying 'yes' to adventure means committing to the homework that follows - because the alternative isn't just disappointing, it can be dangerous.
